Discussion Board Terms of Use

We welcome your participation in MBIA’s Discussion Board. Our goal is to encourage a supportive and informative environment.

By participating in MBIA’s Discussion Board, you are agreeing to abide by the MBIA Discussion Board rules as follows:

  • Do not post any defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials.
  • Respect the privacy of individuals. Do not post your own or anyone else’s phone number, address or any other private information as we cannot control how that information may be used beyond our discussion board.
  • Participate at your own risk. You take responsibility for postings under your username and use the information provided here at your own risk
  • You must have copyright ownership of all material that you post on our discussion board. No articles, recipes, song lyrics, art, or graphics may be posted without the express written consent of the copyright holder. If you’d like to refer to a news article from another site, please post no more than a few lines summarizing the article and include a link to it.
  • By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that he or she owns the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner.
  • The posting party grants MBIA and users of the MBIA Discussion Board the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material.
  • Do not upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
  • We reserve the right to lock out any person who knowingly violates our rules and to delete their comments. Flagrant violators will be banned. Offensive comments will be deleted.

Registration Required
In order to post comments, readers must register their email address and provide their real name. Pseudonyms may be used by posters writing comments. The real, verifiable name of the poster must be made known to MBIA, which will hold that information in strict confidence.

Once a pseudonym has been assigned, the user must continue using only that pseudonym (i.e. may not comment under both a pseudonym and their own name), unless they wish to reveal their name, in which case it must be done by altering the account so that all prior comments are properly attributed. All permissions and approvals are the sole purview of the administrators of MBIA.

Violation of Discussion Board Rules
MBIA reserves the right to deny access to MBIA’s Discussion Board or remove the posting privileges of members who violate the MBIA Discussion Board Rules and Etiquette requirements or other related MBIA policies.

Members or guests violating the MBIA Discussion Board Rules and Etiquette requirements will receive a communication from MBIA Discussion Board Moderator as to the inappropriate nature of the posting, which may lead to being denied further posting privileges. Should a second violation occur, the member will be notified that any future inappropriate postings will result in the member being denied MBIA Discussion Boards posting privileges. Should a third violation occur, the discussion board moderators will review violations and make a final determination whether posting privileges will be removed.

Use at own discretion and risk
While MBIA attempts to review downloaded documents posted to the Discussion Board, any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the MBIA Discussion Board is done at your own discretion and risk and you are solely responsible for any damage to your computer system, loss of data or any other damage or loss that results from the download of any such material.

If you have any questions about the terms of use agreement outlined here, contact MBIA.
